We dance at a variety of types of events...
Cost of event performance varies and it is dependent on type of event, event location, performance length, availability, time of year, preparation requirements, number of dancers, etc. Please contact us to get more information. See contact page. Mahalo!
***MUST REGISTER for ALL dance lessons and workshops. Please complete Registration Form on this page and make initial or full payment (see lesson details below).
**We follow the State of NY and Tompkins County Health Department COVID policies with regards to mask wearing at indoor lessons, workshops and events. At this time, masks are encouraged and preferred but not required. Out of respect for others, do not come to in person lesson/workshop/performance if have any symptoms of illness or known direct contact with a COVID positive person. Zoom may be an alternative option for attending lessons if/when symptomatic and/or contagious.
Dance Studio Protocol:
* Always practice aloha (care and kindness) to others. Show respect to instructors, other dancers, visitors, 'ohana (family) and the community.
*Have Fun!
*Be on time - we strive to start and end lessons on time. Unless have informed the instructor prior to class, please do not show up more than 15 minutes after the start of a lesson or workshop as it is disruptive to others and leads to missing important chant/oli protocol and/or warm-ups.
*Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable, breathable clothing that is easy to move in.
*Silence or don't bring cell phones.
*Unless requiring more foot support, please dance bare footed. Yoga style socks with grips on the bottom are acceptable to wear to keep feet warm. Unless there is a medical or cultural reason, please do not wear regular socks or tights as they increase risk of slipping and falling.
*Leave street shoes outside the studio to keep the floors as clean and dry as possible.
*Parents/guardians and guests of haumana (student), unless received prior permission from instructor, please wait outside the studio during lesson and/or workshop time. There are seats to relax at the front entrance or in the hall. You may peek though the studio door window to check in on a haumana (student) though as a courtesy and to not disrupt dancers and instructors please do so briefly and discreetly. Please be aware that there also may be other groups in the building so please remember to keep volumes low in the waiting areas.
Thank you for your cooperation!
*No make ups or refunds for missed lessons, workshops, performance or costumes.
*Make up lessons may be offered due to instructor emergency or illness.
Intermediate Level Haumana (student):
*Wear pa'u (hula skirt) or pareo (sarong).
*Be prepared
*Take care of (malama) and bring dance implements to lessons (pu'ili, uli uli, ipu, poi balls, etc.)
*Take care of (malama) and bring printed learning materials that are currently being taught, such as lyrics to a mele (song) or oli (chant) that an instructor or leader has provided. A folder for storing in dance bag is helpful as well as a pen for writing notes.
